Exotic Wood Species

To eliminate our participation in damage to the world's rain forests we have come to a difficult decision for 2020. We have decided to stop working with these woods:

  • Wenge
  • Teak
  • Bubinga
  • Jatoba
  • Canary Wood
  • Paduak
  • Iroko
  • Afromosia
  • Zebra Wood

Why are these woods bad?

These woods come from countries that do not maintain forestry regulations and allow for the importation of illegally obtained woods from other countries who need to circumvent sanctions put on them. Many of these beautiful woods come from trees that are hundreds of years old and because the tree as a whole is too large for small poaching groups to remove they cut the entire tree down and just take the branches. It is impossible for us to continue to use them in good conscience.

We'll work with all of our customers to find a very nice replacement.
